How are raw ACT scores converted to scaled scores? There is no deduction or penalty for incorrect answers in the ACT. Your raw score is simply the total number of questions you answer correctly in each section. Where do these scaled scores come from? Scores from 1 to 36 are converted from your raw scores in each of the subject areas. Then these area scores average your composite score, which is between 1 and 36.
